Amanda Frangiosa Makes History as Eagle Scout, Leading Troop 1140 to Success

On February 20, 2025, Renaissance Knight Amanda Frangiosa sat for her Eagle Board of Review for Scouting America.

Troop 1140, based in Conshohocken, PA, was founded by Amanda Frangiosa at just 12 years old. When she was told that young women would not be accepted into her local troop, she refused to let that stop her. Determined to find a place where she belonged, Amanda sought out a troop that would welcome her. With the support of a fellow Scout leader, Steve Hurst, her father, John Frangiosa, and her sister, she embarked on the mission of connecting other girls in similar situations. This effort led to Amanda becoming the founding member of Troop 1140.

As the founder and oldest member, Frangiosa was entrusted with the leadership role of Senior Patrol Leader, shaping the direction of the troop. Her strategic mindset and forward-thinking approach allowed her to hold this leadership position for four years, preparing her for her promotion to Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. Throughout her time, she has led as many as 18 female Scouts, equipping them with essential life skills such as knot tying, fire building, first aid, wilderness survival, and citizenship.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, candidates must complete a service project that benefits their community and demonstrate leadership in the process. Amanda chose to build a sensory pathway and vegetable garden for the independent living program at The Timothy School, a local school for autism. Her project not only provided a welcoming and therapeutic space for the students but also created internship opportunities, leaving a lasting impact on the school through her thoughtful and well-executed efforts.

Scoutmaster Janna Stieg describes Amanda as a strong and empathetic leader: “She is a natural leader and a really good person. She's tenacious, driven, and dedicated to being a great Scout. Amanda has shaped the Troop in tremendous ways, and I value her input and decision-making abilities. It has been a joy to watch her grow and blossom into the leader she is today. ”

Only 3-6% of Scouts who start the program go on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, and since 2019, only around 6,000 women have achieved this honor. We congratulate Amanda Frangiosa on her diligence, tenacity, and courage in leading both herself and her troop to historic milestones.

Amanda will soon host her Court of Honor, where she will receive letters from the President and other notable organizations recognizing her remarkable achievement. Congratulations to Amanda and her family on this impactful and incredible accomplishment!
