Students from Renaissance Academy recently participated in Youth Empowerment Day at Althouse Arboretum, where they connected with nonprofit organizations eager to engage passionate young volunteers. The day featured a nonprofit fair and leadership workshops, giving students the chance to explore meaningful volunteer opportunities and develop skills for community activism.
Students found the experience invaluable. One student shared, "It was a great opportunity to learn about other nonprofits and organizations. This experience allowed us to go further than just school volunteering and really find organizations that are helpful to many different groups of people." Another reflected, "Something that I found valuable on this trip was learning how to plan out some of my life goals. I also learned about the power of my voice and how I can use it to make a change in the world."
In addition to learning about local nonprofits, students had the chance to write letters to the school board, plan personal life goals, and build connections with other young leaders. The trip provided a unique opportunity for students to broaden their perspectives and explore ways to contribute to the greater good.
