Costa Rica Service Trip
Trip Background
The bi-annual community service trip to Costa Rica was created to provide the students of Renaissance Academy with an opportunity to experience life beyond their neighborhoods, families, and school. The trip focuses on building a knowledge of the rich cultural nature of Costa Rica, both in the wildlife and in society.
Students also have the opportunity to provide much-needed school supplies and assistance to various school scattered about Costa Rica.
Sample Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival to Costa Rica
- Day 2: Day of activities in La Fortuna (location of Arenal Volcano)
- Day 3: Maleku Reserve Social Project
- Day 4: From La Fortuna to Monteverde via scenic route around Lake Arenal
- Day 5: Monteverde and activities (including hikes and zip lining)
- Day 6: From Monteverde area to Orphanage
- Day 7: To Puna Leona and beach area
- Day 8: Day to enjoy the costal area
- Day 9: Early AM departure to San Jose to catch our flight.
Eligibility
Students must meet, and continue to meet, academic and disciplinary qualifications to remain eligible for travel. These requirements are distributed to the student body during each application cycle.
